Hi, yes I'm always ready to communicate with someone who knows of has any clues for me. Where do you find my Roses on a census? Maybe they are not mine as I have had a tough time finding Roses on the census. I have found them in the Carrollton court house and the Winchester court house but that's about it. My Roses are Father: John Rose, born abt 1845 in Germany. Completely disappears just before 1884. Mother: Martha J. (Burris) Rose, born abt 1857 in Bowling Green, Ky. Children: John W. Rose, born 1878 in Merritt, Ill, Life long resident of Roodhouse, Ill, George Rose born about 1879, place unk. Also disappears after 1884, Sara E. Rose, born Sep 1881 in White Hall, Ill. Also disappears after 1884. Believe they lived at the ALMSHOUSE for a while in 1882-83. Martha the mother is widowed by 1885 and remarries a James B. Tucker and then is lost. That is the sum of what I know. Does this sound like the Roses you found. Please reply. and thanks Kathy. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jaf65@aol.com> To: <ILGREENE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 22, 2001 11:37 PM Subject: Re: Methodist Churches near Kane, IL > Kathy, our people (Rose and Farrow) were neighbors often in census data. Hi, all Someone sent me a Mitchell family file to post awhile ago, but I misplaced the email for it. Suggestion: When you submit a file, make sure your contact info is in the body of the file so you will get proper credit and people can find you. Anyway, whoever sent me the file, please contact me. BTW, I tried to send in some other files that people have sent me, and the ILGenWeb contact person's mailbox is full. Either volunteers have been flooding her with files, or something else is going on. Instead, for a little while, if you try to submit files and they bounce back to you, send them to me instead and I will create a temporary web page for them. Hi, all I've been getting requests from time to time to change email addresses when someone changes their server. I can do this on the mailing list and on our surnames and families lists, but not on anything else that has been posted. ILGenWeb's and USGenWeb's policies are that it is too labor-intensive to search out every document and change email addresses. There are far too many people sending in documents every day to accommodate this, and all the volunteers' time is taken up just posting documents. This goes for changes to documents already posted. If you have an addendum or change, you have to post it as a separate document. For instance: "Jones Cemetery Index updated Jan. 2, 2003" Now, on my part, I try to keep the Surname and Family pages current, so if people can't find you from the links in the archives, they can come over to our pages or email me to find your new link if you have one. Hi, all Thanks to a suggestion of a listmember, I've changed the "Maps" section (in the left hand lower area of the main web page). There is now a link to a "Communities" map that shows the township outlines and the towns in Greene Co., and a separate link to a "Townships" map that shows the names and location of each township. Plus be sure to check out the 1875 plat map link if you haven't already. SURNAMES: new surnames and updated links are posted, also. Just follow the "Surnames" link off of the main page. MORE: A new link to the Tri County Newsletter has been added on the main web page. It is located in the "Neighboring Counties" section in the right lower area of the page. This is Marty Crull's project with funeral home directory indexes, member pages, etc. STILL MORE: USGenNet server has been fixed. It had been down for a couple of months, which affected some of the census pages and other USGenWeb offerings. So if you couldn't get through to some of the census page links, try them out. Greene County MAIN PAGE: http://rootsweb.com/~ilgreene/green.htm Hope you enjoy the new links! Jeannie Smith County Coord. for Greene Co., IL on ILGenWeb

Marty , I was wondering if there are any PENNELL family members listed in this book? Thank You, Tedd Taylor
I knowmy greatgrandparents vaughn and margaret kalaher came from carrollton and e nded up in kcmo but does anyone know anything about carrolton. i am wondering just how they came to be in illinois from ireland? were there land grants to that area or did people buy plots of land. it just seems kind of strange to me for patrick and peggy kalaher to come straight over from ireland and settle there sometime in the the middle 1800s. peggy
Marty, Do you know if there is any thing like this for Scott Co.? My Wilson family was a fixture in Manchester from about 1836 ish to 1902. Most of the children had passed or moved on by 1902, but there was one child that I know of who stayed. She married a Greenwalt. My understanding is that the Greenwalt's were also a fixture in the area. Would love to find a directory such as this for the time frame my family was in this area. Hi, I saw your mail about Kane, Ill. I saw an old book of church records for the Methodist church in Kane, Ill at the Historical Soc. in Carrollton, Ill last year. It has a lot of info in it. I copied some of the pages that had so ROSE folks of mine in it. You can look on the Greene Co. web to get the number and address of the Soc.
