I finished all my transcribing and have time to do more. Am quite willing to do whatever you need. Some time before Xmas I sent out some of Marty's death notices for transcription, and a bunch of people volunteered, but the holidays and other happenings got in the way. Anyway, I have images of the annual death notices lists from 1930 and 1939-1959 that need to be transcribed, except for the ones Dan Marshall already did from 1950-1955. There are about 250 names per year. Also looking for volunteers to proofread the transcriptions using the online images. Also looking for volunteers who would like to check the Carrollton Patriot death notices against the IL: State Archives death certificate database, making corrections and noting which on our list are also in the State's list. Anyway, the files are already to go. There are 28 files, each encompassing about half a year, or about 100-125 names. I will send instructions along with 4 files at a time to whoever can help with this worthy endeavor. Thanks Jeannie Smith Co. Hi, all, Dan Marshall kindly transcribed the 1950-1955 annual death notices list from the Carrollton Patriot that Marty Crull supplied. I've put them onto a new web page that we'll be updating with 1930-1959 lists as they're transcribed. Go to the main web page and click on the "Deaths & Obits" link. (This used to just link to the IL Archives.) You will get a new web page with three links: Death Notices (has the above transcribed notices); Illinois Death Certificates (The official Illinois State Archives page); and Greene Co. Obits, Wills, and Estate Records (the Greene Co. archives on RootsWeb). Jeannie Smith Co. Coord. for Greene Co., IL on ILGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilgreene/green.htm
Dear Sue, I wrote and told you the other day that Mary the child of Mary Mayberry and Absalom Bradley died in 1850. I found out from another source she actual was living with Mary's brother William who adopted her.(seen on 1850 census as being 7 years old) Sorry, but I just found out this new information myself just recently. Your Cuz, diane
Hi Sue, I have found a few of you Cousins related to Marilda Mayberry wife. One cousin gave me the info that I needed, that I was indeed related to Absalom and Mary. John was b Dec 1842 North of Apple Creek, Greene Co, IL. He married Mary Coats on Sept 29, 1863 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. He died Apr 10, 1902 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. He had 5 children with Mary. Charles Curtis Clinton, Robert Calvin Bradley, Virginia Catherine Bradley, Harry Bradley, and Clara Genevera Bradley. I don't know what happened to Rueben b abt 1838, but Mary b 1845 died about 1850 per Cousin Karen. I've done some research on Marilda's line if you need any info, maybe I have it. Her parents were Margaret Barnard and Joshua Mayberry I believe. Is that what you have? Do you have parents on Mary, by chance? I have Susannah Barnard and James Mayberry, but other than them coming from NC, haven't had too much luck with that line. Please keep in touch. Your Cuz, diane
Hi Diane, Absolam Bradley is my great, great, great grandfather with his second wife, Marilda Mayberry. I believe there were 3 children from his 1st marriage to Mary Mayberry: Reuben, Jonathan, & Mary. The only thing I have on John is that he was born about 1841 in Illinois. Mary E Briscoe is buried with John J. in White Hall Cemetery. Dates: 1880 - 1959 I would guess it is the same tombstone, but the can't verify that for certain. Annie, There is a Mary E. Briscoe listed in Sec. #2 1880-1958. Her name is listed under John J. Birscoe 1873-1945. Also a Henry N. Skaggs 1862-1945. Hope this helps. Karen

I am attempting to find out when and where Mary Elizabeth Skaggs (Mrs. John Joshua) Briscoe died. A search of the online death records does not bring up anything conclusive. Her husband, John Joshua Briscoe (May 16, 1873 - April 7, 1945) predeceased her and is buried in White Hall Cemetery. Does anyone on this list have a list of burials in that cemetery, so that you could look up whether John J. Briscoe's tombstone is shared with his wife or whether she is buried there at all and, if so, what her death date (or at least death year) was? Many, many thanks in advance for any help. Annie U.
