I am new to this list and I'm at a dead end regarding my KETCHUM/CADE line and hope someone on this list will be able to assist me. Charles KETCHUM, b ca 1822, OH married first to Mary KEITH in Winnebago Co., IL in 1845. They had one child, Everett Eugene before Mary died. Charles KETCHUM married a second time, to Cynthia CADE, Dec. 9, 1857 in Greene Co., IL and I have found them living in Greene Co., IL in the 1860 Census. After visiting the Greene Co., IL GenWeb site for various records, I am finding quite a few CADE listings. I am most interested in anyone who is researching or has knowledge of any of the above mentioned people. I want to thank anyone in advance for their assistance with this mystery. Donna Bond
I am chasing the Alexander King Jr. family. He started his family in Greene CO, Kane and Linder Township area.Moved to Fannin County, Texas abt 1852. David Fanning King born Jan 1855 in Bonham, Fannin County, Texas. In 1851 an epidemic (flu?) went through Greene County, Alexander lost two children (Sept 11 & 12, 1851). He was elected to serve as Constable 1852 but never served according to County records.Talked with Historical Society they say about half the county moved to Texas about the same time, so many moved together they started their own town Carrollton Texas ( named after Carrollton, Green CO, IL) in now what is the Fort Worth TX area. Most of the group went to Bonham or Carrollton TX. According too family lore moved back to Greene County for business reasons. Leraning about the Fall 1851 epidemic and the mass move to Fannin help me understand some of my info. Hope this helps. Do you have William's birthplace? I have a family that resided in Greene Co. until about 1850 when they all went to Fannin Co, TX with daughter and son-in-law and their own younger daughters. One daughter married George Thompson in TX (after being widowed) between 1868 and 1870. She appears in TX 1870 census as Abigail Thompson with 4 Morris children, ages 9 to 2. Her maiden name was Chipman and she had 5 sisters. Some never left Greene County when their father and mother did (Elizabeth Chipman Bradford and Nancy Chipman Bacon) and some returned to Greene Co, IL.later. Brother David Chpman returned to the Beard household in Grene Co in 1870 census. Outside chance, but it's worth a shot. William might be old enough to be a grandson- or son of James or Austin Morris Thompson. The Chipman line is descended from Mayflower passengers. Jan
Still looking for all possible combinations of Cox and Smith. Smiths and Ballards of Greene, Morgan, Jersey, Macoupin County. Wm A Cox married Martha Loretta Smith in 1898 in Macoupin County. Wm was born in Morgan County, son of Wm. R. Cox and Sarah M. Boyer. Martha, born 1869, may have been the daughter of Martin Smith, TN,and Mary Ballard, MO I feel there is probably a connection with the Ballards and Smiths of Greene County. William A. Cox had several sisters who married Smiths from Greene County.Looking for all info on Martha Loretta Smith. Martha had a son, George Arthur Smith, out of wedlock in 1892, in Illinois. She married Wallace Gafney in 1893 in Jersey County, Illinois. No info of what happened with this marriage. She married Wm. A. Cox in 1898 in Macoupin County. Any info as to the father of George Arthur Smith? Info on his mother, Martha Loretta Smith? Need her parents' names and other info. Thanks M. Cox

FYI This was on another list I am on, just wanted to pass it along. Hello, I live in St. Louis, Missouri and saw on the local news tonight that there is a BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK - 1843 - 1963 ( North St. Louis) that is looking for persons with family buried there. The airport is being expanded and they are going to move the CEMETERY. Is there a way to get this message to as many listers as possible in a short amount of time? Can you help! Pat Jones Smith St. Louis, Missouri USA [email protected]
Do you have any census on line 1900 or 1910? D. Sewell
Your Sewell names are not familiar to me. My Turner Sewell was born in Madison CO., Ky. and had about 10 children by two different wives. Some of the children were; John Henry, Othanile, William, Jesse, Sarah, Mary. I am not aware of any Georgia connection. If I see any connections with further study I will let you know. Vernon

I understand that Rootsweb was purchased by Ancestry.com I guess we, who gave all our work "free" to Rootsweb can look forward to seeing Ancestry selling it like Family Tree Maker does.
