    2. They went to Fannin County. Seth became a Justice of the Peace in August 1852. He died there, their daughters married there and Sarah died a widow after 1870. Big connections with the Lovelaces of Bonham, but I can't get too far there or Seth and Sarah either--Lovelaces, yes. There's a lot of them there, and pretty well documented, too. Gee, thanks for answering. I read all your stuff, just hoping a clue will appear. Jan

    2. I do wish some of you with such good old families in the county and White Hall had heard of Jacob Gordon Bacon and his wife Nancy Chipman. Or his parents Joel Bacon and Polly Wheaton. Or her parents Seth Chipman and Sarah Lorton. They were all there 1818 to 1850. Jacob Gordon Bacon until he enlisted CW 1862 and she is listed widow in 1865. I just can't find what happened to him--nor where his parents are buried. The Chipmans had 6 daughters and 1 son. Went to Texas--late 1850s, I've got a line on them. It's the Bacons in WhiteHall that are defying me. Jan There's such a lot of old history there and I dont' know why I can't find it.

    3. Kathy, is James Brown Tucker your gggrandfather. James Tucker's father (Samuel Alexander Tucker) is my gggrandfather. James was born in Greene Co. (I have Jan. 15, 1832) making him 53 in 1885, and died (I have Jan. 09, 1905). My mother grew up in White Hall and William Jasper Tucker of Roodhouse (James's brother) was my ggrandfather. 2. Is the Thomas Parish Caudle you are talking about in 1850 in Wayne Co., Illinois the same as the one who married Margaret and had Mary, William, Sarah and Pleasent (male)? In 1860 this man is in Indian Prairie Township. He is living next to Amos and Miriam Smith, who are the parents of his second wife, Cynthia Smith. Trying to find the descendants of his second wife. 3. "Richwoods Cemetery certainly does exist in Greene County. I was there in July of last year where some of my ancestors are buried. It's on County Route 2 between Roodhouse and U.S. Route 67, about a mile west of 67. It's a very well kept cemetery next to a small white church surrounded by corn fields." > > Ray Goodwin > Shingle Springs, CA ********************************** This is the Richwoods Cemetery that I know and visit. My ancestors William and Phoebe Winn are buried right in the center of the cemetery. Shirley Winn Williams Phoenix, AZ

    3. Does anyone know why this cemetery is also known as Sweetin, when no SWEETINs are shown as being buried there? Theresa Kent Simpson wrote: > Boirum Cemetery (aka: Sweetin Cemetery) Greene County, IL > Also known as Sweetin Cemetery, this cemetery is on top of a high bluff and in a timber. It is directly east of the east-west road that goes down into the Illinois River bottoms of Walkerville Township. The cemetery is midway between the Illinois River and Walkerville. the cemetery is about an acre in area, and contains many graves that are marked only with rocks. Some of the tombstones are so weathered that the reading of dates involves guesswork.

    3. I do not know but my guess, is that the land was orginally owned by a SWEETIN, so I did a land search and found "SWEETIN AZARIAH FD NESE 21 11N 13W 3 " Still learning how to read and locate section, range and township info. The Sweeten markers mayby gone or ot hard to read. Just a guess Kent > Does anyone know why this cemetery is also known as Sweetin, when no SWEETINs are shown as being buried there?
