Hi everyone, My name is Melodi. I am looking for someone who can help me do some research. I am planting my family tree and finally have half of it done that is 6 generations on my Dad's side. I have names; but no information from Mom's side. They are from Greene County--several cities. Thanks in advance, Melodi
I was in Greene County in 1964 and visited both the courthouse and the Greene County Historical and Genealogical headquarters (across from the courthouse). People in Greene County are very helpfull! The ladies in the office of the County Clerk directed me to other holdings in the courthouse where I might find information about my Greene County families. The Historical and Genealogical Society has numerous files (family surname) in their holdings and were very helpfull; I was able to select items to be copied. They also have a number of publications (cemeteries, marriages, etc.) that are very informative. The courthouse and Historical and Genealogical Society are goldmines of information!!! Good luck in you searching. Sandy
I just received a marriage license 2 days ago from the Greene County Courthouse. I also had birth certificate searches done. The cost was $8 each and it only took about 3 - 4 weeks. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 08, 2001 11:29 PM Subject: county courthouse records > Does anyone know how much and how willing the staff is for getting copies of > records in the County Courthouse? > > > ==== ILGREENE Mailing List ==== > Visit the Greene County USGenWeb Homepage! > http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilgreene/green.htm

It's not much, but we have an Omar Lee Caudle, 1881-1942, bur. Lands Cem., Macoupin Co., who married into my Arnold line. His wife was Matilda Arnold, 1881-1966. Her 2nd husb. was Herman Shafer. Also, Avia Arnold of Macoupin Co., this Matilda's Aunt, was married in that county to Noah M. Edwards in Dec., 1870, by J.C. Caudle, Minister of the Gospel. They relocated to the Nortonville area of Morgan County. Rev. J.C. Caudle's name appears often in our families' from Morgan and Macoupin Co., on records of that nature. It was said that Rev. Caudle was Avia's cousin, although I've not documented that personally. Juli Claussen
