C. SMOCK died c1816 as his wife, Sallie/Sarah, applied for probate in Gallatin Co., IL Terr in 1816. There is no probate record in Gallatin Co. This is the year that the residence area (Cave in Rock) where Sallie lived became a part of Pope Co., IL Terr. I suspect that her probate application was sent to Pope Co., for action. Is there such a record in Pope Co., IL Terr (IL did not become a State until 1818). Need some guidance as to where to look. Best regards, Hugh
