    3. Just another attempt to locate someone who might have closer ties to one Abraham GREER, son of Asa and Rebecca (Neighbors) GREER. Abraham "may" be the link I need to prove out my mother's line of GREER. Francis Marion GREER was born in Gallaten county, Ills, 1830. He is found in the household of his mother, Maragret GREER, in Morehouse Parish, LA. in 1850, along with an older brother, William M. (Marshal?) Greer who was born per the census age, 1825, in Tenn. Back in Tenn. records, I found where Abraham Greer had married a Peggy Kinney, 1825 (could'a been 1826?) in Williamson county, Tenn. As I believe the family moved into Ills., our family history states "the family moved back to Tenn., 1834", this is the "best match" I can find. It is known that the family moved into LA. in the period of 1848. Checking "names", I did find where a male "Kinney" had purchased land in the same area that we found Margaret and the "boys", although I don't have that info right in front of me, I believe it was 1848. This leads me to believe that Maragret moved "with her family", the Kinney family, into LA. F.M. Greer named his first born son "after the grandfather"....making it appear that HIS family would have been Abraham? That first born was named Thomas Abraham GREER. and went by "Abe". Other sons were named Frances Marion, Jr., William Jeffersopn, and, James Allen GREER. The only daughter was named Rebecca May Ann GREER.
