"Andrew Jackson Locklar was born Oct 20, 1859, somewhere in Arkansas. He married Mary Eliza Wren in 1898, She was born July 23, 1881, in Saline or Hardin County. he was a boxer and/or wrestler. She loved to quilt. Mary Eliza and "Jack" Locklar had 6 children, Virgil Frederick, Ella Gertrude, John Earl, Thelma Juanita, Mary Marguerite, and Ruby Geraldine. Andrew Jackson Locklar's father was killed by bushwhackers while riding home on a horse from the Civil War. Mary Eliza's mother was Mary Elizabeth Hale born Sept 4 1859 in Missouri. She died Feb 6, 1945, at Shawneetown. She married John Wm. Wren, a farmer. They had five children, Mary Eliza, Margaret, Fred, James Alvin, Willis. he died from a fall off a wagon. Her second marriage was to James Burns. One child was born, Mable. Her third marriage was to Cass Talbott. Mary Elizabeth Hale's father was James Hale. Andrew Jackson Locklar died Oct 1, 1925. Mary Eliza Locklar then married Grant Saffer who had 3 daughters by a previous marriage, whom she raised. They were Pauline, Margie and Bette Saffer. Grant Saffer ran a restaurant in Old Shawnee called "The Egyptian Cafe"."
