I have a mystery maybe you all can help me with! In 1880, in Gallatin Co, in Equality, there is a 4 year old boy, Jas. E. Hudgeons, listed as "grandson" with the family of Andrew J and Sarah Jane Blankenship. Who is this boy??? In 1870, again in Equality, AJ and Sarah J Blankenship are listed with their children, including a 14 year old daughter, Hannah, and a 3 year old daughter, Flora. By 1880, neither of these girls seem to be around. In 1880, there is a Hudgeons family, living in Equality. I've been to Equality, and it's not too huge, not sure how big it was in 1880! Anyway, they have a son, Monroe Hudgeons, age 28 who is listed as "divorced". Is this Monroe the father of the little boy living with the Blankenships? If yes, who is the mother? Hannah? So what happened?? By 1896, when Andrew J Blaneknship was making out his will, he listed 7 "boys" including one James Everett. Is this Jas. E.?? Was he adopted (formally or not) by his grandfather? I cannot seem to find any of these items: 1. marriage certificate between 1870-1876 of a Monroe (may have been a James Monroe or a William Monroe) Hudgeons/Hudgins and a Hannah (or other first name) Blankenship. 2. Birth record of a James E. Hudgeons, probably b. 1874-1876. 3. Divorce record of the people from #1. 4. Death record 1870-1880 of Flora (or Ida) Blankenship, b. Ohio about 1867, or Hannah Blankenship or Hannah Hudgins, b. probably Ohio about 1856. 5. Guardianship and/or adoption records between 1880-1896 with a Andrew Johnson Blaneknship and his grandson, JE Hudgins. Any HELP would be great!! This is my brick wall. thanks Martha
