    3. Sue -- I can add something about the Crawford household -- Minnie E. Crawford (It's M. E. Crawford in the FHL 1880 transcription available at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp ) is Mary Elizabeth Kanady Crawford, b. 16 Dec. 1833, daughter of Lewis and Malinda (Cochran) Kanady, widow of Robert T. Crawford who died in 1877 and is buried in Crawford Cemetery. M. E.'s daughter Winnie E. married William R. (Bill) Kanady (her second cousin) on 12 November 1879. The FHL transcription says that son W.R. is one month old. Where is husband Bill in 1880? Possibly he is the William Canada, 22, who 'works on farm' in the household of Charlie Gilpin Slocumb in Emma in White County. The marital status for him was left blank. Now, back in Gallatin County, the household next door, headed by widow Mary N. Davis, is an unknown quantity for me. The FHL transcription has all five members with the Davis surname, and I don't recognize the three younger children as Kanadys. If you know of a Kanady connection, I'd be very interested. Maybe I should check out the microfilms myself. Lory Holm in Vermont > 1880 Gal.
