In migrating west, Moses and Keziah probably never crossed the Ohio from Union County, Kentucky, but all nine children settled in Gallatin County aft 1818. >I have a Moses Kanady and his family, and then his brother, Washington Kanady, and his family. Their mom >was Mary but her married name was Kanady! This Moses, b. 16 Nov. 1828, is the son of John Johnson Kanady (b. 1804, Mary's brother). He and his brother Washington were two (of nine) children of John J. and Mary (Sherwood) Kanady. > Do you know anything about their great uncle Peter Kanady, who was captured > by the Indians and lived with them for 13 years? Peter Kennedy, b. 1769, was the older brother of the elder Moses. (There were ten brothers, and Moses was the only one to use the Kanady spelling.) Peter was wounded and captured by the Indians in Kentucky at the age of 13, was held captive for two years, was wounded again during a dramatic escape, but lived to the age of 70 and left seven children and many descendants.
