He appears in the 1860 Gallatin Co. census with his wife Mary. John was born in Rutherford Co., TN in 1828. John served in the 131 IL Inf during the Civil War. He married Louise Midgett PARKER in Gallatin Co. in 1864. John died there in 1876 and is buried in Gallatin. John's son Logan MAYFIELD was a town marshall in Ridgway at one time. There are some older MAYFIELD's listed in Gallatin and may be related. Some other surnames that are related to these MAYFIELD's are HUDGINGS, FORTNER, and TROTTER. I would appreciate any information.
