> Trev, > Have you seen the 1840 Gallatin Co. census, 1850 Saline Co. census and the > Land grants? Yes I have.... Ben Sr. doesn't appear in the 1850 census... > It looks like your Benjamin had a bunch of kids. There is a John in 1850 > census, born in Kentucky. There was a very early Jones in a few miles south > of Benjamin. (1819) there were a "few" Jones families in the area... haven't no proof to connect the early ones. Mine from VA... most of the later ones from KY and TN.... Okay, hold up there... you said a very early Jones in 1819? Was this on the "Land Patent page"? It wasn't, was it.... you are talking about "Land Grants"....right? I don't have these!!! Can you give me the plat info for that one (1819), and name.... and anyone else who is closeby. > The 1850 census shows young Benjamin had no land but Elizabeth 53 years old > did. This is Ben Jr., The land Ben Sr. bought was in 1840, and either Ben Jr or Sr purchased more in 1844 (I believe it to be Jr.... per 1850 census). Elizabeth Carrier/Carner was Ben Sr's wife.... William and his wife Rebecca are my gg grandfather. They were also living in the area. William remarried when Rebecca (McFarland) died in 1892 to Mary Caroline Mace... had two kids (my g grfr) and died. > So.... the land purchased by Benjamin in 1839 and 1842 must have been the > elder before he died. I only Had land purchased in 1840 by Sr, and 1844 by Jr.....hmmmm what book are looking at Dave? > The location of 7S 5E which is in Tate Twp, is closer to McLeansboro than > Shaneetown. They could have > leaned toward Hamilton Co for business. I checked Greenberry Jones (easier Yeah, that was my feeling to... I did have Greenberry married in Hamilton. There is also some Jones just over the line.... Hamilton co is so short on published resources, that I haven't been able to get much done. I take it you have the marriage book (to 1870) that is no longer available..... errrrrr! Thanks for all your help.... Best Regards, Trev
