And Joseph is not listed as head of household in the 1830 or 1840 census index. But http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriage there is a marriage of Joseph McGehee to Sally Boardwine in Fulton County 17 Jan 1844; and another marriage of Joseph McGehee to Sarah Ann Billups in White County 18 Oct 1869. Do you have a birthdate for Samuel?
