Dave, Martin's birthplace, parents and siblings remain illusive. Born in Ohio, he married in Clark County, Ohio to Mary who settled there with her family from West Virginia. Their oldest child was born in Arkansas before their return to Ohio and on to Illinois. In 1854 he purchased federal land in Hamilton County but continued to show up in Gallatin County Census records. Thanks for the additional information. He seems to have been a trustworthy merchant and manufacturer. Someone we will be happy to tell our grandchildren about!! Barbara
