    3. Hello Listowners, I thought that this was something that some of the local genealogy societies might be interested in, considering that so many of our researchers are involved in finding relatives from the United Kingdom. Therefore, am forwarding this message I recently received from England. Carol Dugger ***************************************** Hello Rita Thank You for letting me know your concerns. I have forwarded this to Richard Ratcliffe who represents us on the 1901 Advisory Panel, but can I also ask (if you have not already done so) that you express your concerns to the PRO as well. Their website can be found at www.pro.gov.uk There is a piece in the latest Newsflash about the 1901 census (Margaret Brennand attended the 'Getting to Know You day' in Coventry in July) so if you send me your full contact details I can send you a copy. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any more assistance to you. Best Wishes Maggie Loughran Administrator FFHS PO BOX 2425 COVENTRY CV5 6YX TEL 024 7667 7798 E-MAIL admin@ffhs.org.uk www.ffhs.org.uk ******************************************** >From Richard Ratcliffe 5 September 2001 Your emails to the FFHS Administrator have been forwarded to me as I am the FFHS representative on the 1901 Census Advisory Panel. Can I first direct you to the 1901 census website so that you can read the minutes of the last meeting and also see the latest PRO Update on the project. I have also written several articles for Federation Newsflash and Family History News and Digest and there will be an article in the October issue of Family Tree Magazine. Throughout all the meetings of the Advisory Panel I have constantly raised the matter of Family History Societies being able to purchase microfiche copies of the 1901 Census for their local areas. The PRO is not prepared to allow this to happen immediately but has promised to review the position within 2-3 months of the launch of the 1901 Census and I will be holding them to that promise. in the meantime every County Record Office and County Local Studies Library has been contacted by the PRO with details of how they can purchase microfiche. I cannot say if the PRO has also contacted overseas Record Offices and reference Libraries. perhaps you would be kind enough to advise me on this point. I plan to attend the next meeting of the Advisory Panel on Sept 19th. I hope this partially answers your queries but I can assure you that there are 5 other people on the Advisory Panel who are as eager as I am to ensure that FHSs can purchase microfiche copies and help their members who do not have Internet access. Best wishes, Richard Ratcliffe, FFHS Archives Liaison Officer
