Looking for information on Benjanim Franklin McCool who married a Mrs Eletha Ann McCoy in SALINE 09/15/1873. Benjanim was called Franklin, I guess to be different from his cousin in Pope by the same name. I am looking for any infomation on Eletha - which may be a nickname. I have the marriage date and just the census records after their were married. I am told if the marriage index says "mrs" it usually means that is a Married name. We are fairly sure he is the Son of Adam McCool and born Most likely in Shawneetown, Gallatin, Il. In the 1900 Mo. census he lists his birthday as Oct. 1822. I would like to find his Birth record, or find Adam Mccool's will or probate. I am looking for "poof" of his parents. They were in Gallatin from 1810 to 1830 census, went to Arkansas where Adam was a surveyor and who named DeWitt Arkansas. Then Franklin is back in the 1860 census with his childern and widowed mother. Any Help would be apprecated Jeanette

Although much has been written about the infamous John Forrester and his association with the Old Slave House, can't find any information about his wife except a reference in Glen Miner's cemetery book as the mother of William Forrester. Anyone have any info or suggestions?
Looking for copies of Gallatin County death certificates from the 1850's. Are they available?

The article headlined "Officials search for cemetery", was listed February 5, 2003 in the Washington Time-Reporter, which is a weekly newspaper in Tazewell Co., IL. It appears, some land developers have purchased 130 acre tract of land located between Centennial Drive and U.S. Route 24 in East Peoria, IL., of which was annexed into the city of East Peoria, IL January 21, 2003. The developers intend to construct 300 new homes in the southern portion of the property. The Northeast corner of property has been slotted for commercial development. However, Tazewell County Historical Places have stepped in stating, an unregistered burial site from the 1800's, Keil Cemetery, may be located in a spot slotted for the development. In 1989, the State of Illinois, however, passed the Human Grave Protection Act, a law that forbids the disturbance of human skeletal remains and grave markers in unregistered cemeteries. They also believe, the grave markers have been moved, as they found some under a tree. I know probably some of you know of this law, but thought, I would forwarded it, to the people that don't. My opinion, I think this is a wonderful thing the Tazewell Co. Historical is doing to preserve our ancestors. I feel all Historical Societies should be on top of new development to prevent this kind of thing from happening. They further stated, if there is a question as to a cemetery, they ask that a phase-on archeological survey be done. The IHPA is a state agency which protects historic sites, including old, registered and unregistered cemeteries. If a cemetery is located, then the landowner must develop around the property or exhume the bodies and then notify next of kin. If there is no next of kin, the remains will be sent to a university for study or they will go to the Illinois State Museum. Linda Holmes White

I have a photo of a Warren SLOAN and his wife and child. I am pretty sure he is the Warren Sloan who married Eva Smith . The were classmates of my grandparents at Elba school. They were foster parents to Paul Harrelson who married a relative of mine. If anyone is interested send me an e mail. Richard Williams
I have some info on Ella DUGGER for Carol Dugger but couldn't send it as her e mail address was listed as invalid by my server. Ella Dugger's son is a neighbor of mine here in ND. I found a census with a Louella (Ella's full name) DUGGER on it and the age was right and her parents were George and Margaret Dugger. I haven't been able to contact the son just yet to confirm the census report is his mother's family but am about 90 percent sure it is. Richard Williams
