    3. Hi, I'm researching Claytons of Franklin Co and Warren Co IL. They are originally from SC and KY. I'm not sure of the relationship of these Claytons to the ones in Gallatin Co IL. You can find my Claytons at www.mcs.net/~desoto Click on the Clayton button in the table of contents and then scroll down to the bottom of the Clayton table of contents and click on Index. There you will find a list of Clayton names and related families. 3. I have basically found two batches of Rice family members in Gallatin and White and Hamilton County. One group is from TN, the other had spent some time in KY before coming to IL. I think the ones I have studied are the ones from TN, which includes the Toliver and Joel Rice lines. They apparently came from Vermont to TN. Part of this family moved from Enfield/Sacramento to Ridgway. The Carmi family is from KY, and includes Will S. Rice and Rufus Rice, parents of the John Rice family that now owns a car dealership in Carmi and has $$$. Does this help anyone. Cindy Birk Conley Carmi, IL

This is getting interesting.... is anyone researching CLAYTON? Well, if I am on the wrong track here.... maybe this will help someone else :-) I just found some letters of administration for the Clayton's I mentioned earlier. Here is what they say.....(I see no Keaton or Cayton). Minor heirs of Michael Clayton were: Mary, Thomas, Emma, Lutitia and Sina Jane. William W. Clayton was Guardian. 20 June 1850. Bond was set by: William W. Clayton, Robert Crenshaw, and John C. Mitchell. Lutitia not mentioned. 31 May 1850. Bond set in the estate of Minerva Clayton, deceased 25 April 1849. John C. Mitchel and Daniel M. Willis executed the bond on 1 July 1850 to have them discharged from their duties as administrator. Will of John Willis. children: John G. Willis, Hannah Clayton (wife of Francis M. Clayton), James Harrison Willis, Martha Ann Willis, Emer Willis. Signed, 21 June 1851. Will of Mary S. MaHoney. Bequeath's to her adopted son, John Curtain. 6 Aug 1852. She left her farm known as the "Willis Farm". John Curtin died 15 feb 1853. Administrator was Milton Bartley.

    3. Well I guess it's my turn.... pretty please :-) Since I am finding NO references to my KEATON line in Saline Co (except for a 1 later descendant dyeing in 1855), and I find a couple reference in Equality and Shawneetown for a couple early ones..... Could you please lookup Keaton/Keeton/Keeting/Cayton/Clayton.... this name it driving me nuts! and I have to believe that this family first landed in today's present area of Gallatin... somewhere! Does anyone have access to the microfilm for the 1830 census? The published book has on page 12, #270 for Equality Twp., William CLEATON !! I need to know if this "CL" could possibly be a "K". There was a Cpl. William KEATON, who was in the Blackhawk war of 1830/31. We have a younger William Keaton born abt. 1830 who died in Saline county 1855. He also owned 40 acres there. Believe this younger William had a brother Cornelius b. 1830, and a sister Nancy b. 1826, my 3rd great. This family was from TN, somewhere. I can find no other references to this name in Saline after 1847 (or before), so this leads me to believe they were either in the Gallatin area, or, these younger ones migrated from TN just before Nancy's marriage to Thomas J. MACE, to Saline Area. In the 1840 census, I find a Sarah KEATON, 40 to 50 yrs old in Curran Twp. (Saline Co) who could be the mother of the younger children. In the same census (1830), there is in Shawneetown Twp., a John CAYTON. Now, in the 1830, the oldest female in William's house was 40-50, and in John's 30-40. BUT, in the 1840 census there is a William CLAYTON Sr. and a William CLAYTON Jr. in Equality Twp. Senior is 50- 60 yrs old wife same age!! This WOULD fit perfect, if I can prove there was a mistake on the last name!! HELP.... Best Regards, Trev

    3. Anyone have any info on a Mildred Abney who married Henry Rice in 1872? She was the da. of Joshua Abney and Sarah Stone. I'm researching the Rice end and would like to share info on descendants. Abney and their children. I also research the 'Abney' line on Eliza Jane Abney who is the dau. of James R. Abney & Susanna Waldin. Anything you can offer would be appreciated on this family. 2. Sandra, I'll check my Trammell books about her. Name sounds familiar. It may take a while with the holidays. Linda
