Trying to find information on a local union "Local 794". Interested in details of the union local, who it represented, and what trade. Trying to get information on a cemetery plot that the Local has (had) in Eldorado. Thanks, Glenn.

Does anyone have any information on JULIZA/JULIA GATES? Do you know who she married? Do you have a date? Any other info? Phyllis
Carol, You're right. You've added to my confusion. This may give me a few areas to search. Thanks for your response and time. Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol E. I just got this from the Missouri list and thought I would pass it on. The nickname NIN is not on here, does anyone have any ideas what it could be short for? Hi Larry, I found a record of the Banks Cemetery. I was there in 1991 right after the Cemetery had been cleared off. I did not find a stone for Koster or any of your family that I know. However, there were a number of graves with sandstone markers which have become illegible over the years. Here is what I found: Banks Cemetery Banks Cemetery is located in Eagle Creek Township, Section 32,T10S R8E (Gallatin County, Illinois) on the south and west of the road that intersects with the Karber's Ridge road near Clayborn Vinyard's homeplace. Turn north 200 or 300 ft then west into the government pine forest and about the same distance to the most beautiful cleared acre. The setting of the cemetery is outstanding with the pines surrounding it. The site is in the NE corner of SW 1/4 of NE 1/4 of the section. Banks, J F 1831-1906 wife Nancy 1833-1904 Dan 1872-1901 son of JF & Nancy Thomas 1855?-1901 Otis D 880-1950 wife Magnolia Goolsby, Mrs Hulda 1825-1900 (probably wife of Kirby Goolsby) Moore, William 1842-1886 Hulda 1854-1941 (Hulda Banks??) John L 1865-1942 wife Carolyn (John Logan and Carolyn Cheek Moore) Burroughs, Mary F 1879-1908 wife of NB (fits date of dau of Geo W/Matilda B) Bluford 1894-1897 Claud 1903-1913 (Many of the native stones are illegible but the following had these initials.) CV 1885-1903 CBV 1887-1893 MFV 1885-1904 RRV 1858-1883 (Vinyards?) Gano--(two stones with only last name legible) (John Logan Moore, the son of Russell Moore, married Carolyn Cheek (above). William Moore was John Logan's older brother. William married Hulda Banks. The mother of Hulda Banks Moore may have been Hulda Goolsby. Hulda Goolsby was the wife of Kirby Goolsby (See 1870 Census). It is a good possibility that the Goolsby School was named after some member of the Kirby Goolsby family. The John Goolsby family lived next to the Kirby Goolsby family in 1870. Kirby was 51 YOA and John was 22. Kirby & wife Hulda and John Goolsby were born in TN. The Russell Moore family lived next door (censuswise) to the Kirby Goolsby family in 1870. The Soloman Banks family (&dau Hulda) lived on the other side of the Russell Moore family. Believe that George Gano (Guinaw) m Hannah Moore, dau of Russell Moore. See the Russell Moore Family. Hannah Moore the young sister of John Logan Moore married George Gano. Believe the two stones mentioned above are those of the Ganos spelled Guinaw in the Census of 1870) The John Goolsby family lived next to the Kirby Goolsby family in 1870. Believe that John was a son of Kirby and Hulda Goolsby. Kirby was 51, Hulda was 45 and John was 22 all born in TN. George Guinaw (Gano) was single age 16 living with the Kirby Goolsby family in 1870. Hannah Moore, dau of Russell and Nancy Moore was 16 and single at that time. Believe that George and Hannah married. William Moore married Hulda ??.William died and Hulda was remembered as Hulda Moore. Who was Hulda the wife of William? Hulda Banks was 1 YOA and William Moore was 21 YOA in 1870. That Hulda was not Williams wife. Believe that there was a Hulda, dau of Kirby and Huldy Goolsby, but have not located her. It is most likely that the Goolsby School was named after some member of the Kirby Goolsby family which lived there. Furthermore, the Russell Moore family owned land there. John Logan, son of Russell, ran the "store" at Goolsby. J R Black 1991
You asked for the location of the Banks Cemetery and I see that someone answered you re the Bankston Ford Cemetery in Saline Co. There is also a Banks Cemetery in Gallatin Co, Eagle Creek Township. To get to it start at your gg grandfather Henry W Koster's farm(in more recent years the Mora Moore farm) one mile west of Leamington. From that farm go approx one mile west to what we always called the James Colbert Corner( and later the Eel Colbert Corner). Turn left (South) and go past the former Elmer Koster farm and up the Mary Colbert Hill past the old Goolsby School and the old Guy Casey and Ed Tanner farms, and on South in the direction of Karbers Ridge for a total of about 1 1/2 to 2 miles. The Banks Cemetery in on the Right (West) side of the road just a short distance. However, the last time that I was there was about 3 or 4 years ago. I got a few scratches on my car and the cemetery itself was grown up with saplings higher than my head. It was summer and I did not even get out of the car(yes, I am afraid of snakes). That was Koster country so you might well have relatives there. Happy Hunting. Bob Black
Am looking for parents or siblings of Susannah Pearce b. 1821 in White Co. and m. Allen M. Rice in 1844 in Gallatin Co. There was a Lucy Pearce, 23, living with Allen and Susannah in the 1850 Gallatin Co. census. I am assuming that this is Susannah's sister. There was also a Allen Pearce,35 and Robert D. Pearce, 37 living within a few houses of this Rice family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Donna
Hi Dave: Thank You Again for all the information on the Williams. We also know that Elvis Bryant Williams had a previous marriage & had at least one issue, a daughter. Is there any marriage records in the 1917 - 1926 area available. My wife had met the daughter one time & has since forgot her name. She moved to the Anna Ill. area & worked in the prisons, & has lost contact. Where would be the best place to get information on White Co.? Census & Marriages. Fred
Dear List Friends, My ggg-grandparents were John M. WILLIAMS and Mirah (also called Marie) ROSSON. They were both born in NC. I don't know where. Marie was born in 1808. John died in The War Between the States and is buried in Dover, TN. John M. WILLIAMS, b. NC, d. bet.1861-1865, TN +Mirah ROSSON, b. NC April 1808 Jemima WILLIAMS, b. abt 1844 in NC Maragret WILLIAMS, b. abt. 1847 in TN Catherine Elizabeth WILLIAMS, b. Sept. 1848 in TN Andrew G. WILLIAMS, b. abt 1852 in TN So, I am thinking that they were probably in NC until 1847, and then in TN until 1852. But, the only census where I have found them is the Gallatin Co., IL 1870 census, and John wasn't there, of course. Catherine WILLIAMS married Ira H. HUTCHINSON there in December of that year. Sound familiar to anyone? Any thoughts? Thanks for reading this. Kathryne

Am still looking for the parents of my gggrandmother, Susannah Pearce, b. 1824 in White Co., Ill m. Allen M. Rice in Gallatin Co., Ill in 1844. Can't decide which Pearce/Pierce family she belongs with, but have been told that it most likely is NOT one of the Moses Pearce families. Does anyone have any info on Jarvis Pearce/Pierce. In 1820, he is listed in the White Co. census and in the Gallatin Co. census in 1830. (I only had an index not the whole census so didn't get any info). Is anyone out there related to this fella and possibly could tell me if Susannah is his daughter? Or does anyone out there know who Susannah belongs to (that would be too good to be true!)? Thanks for any help or suggestions. Donna
Larry, I just looked at the various cemetery listings in Saline Co, Ill and I find a Bankston Ford cemetery. It is in vol I of "Cemeteries, Saline Co., Ill" by the Saline Co. Genealogy Society. Unfortunately, I don't happen to have vol. I (an oversite which I will be rectifying next week when I go to Saline Co.). Hope someone else has that vol. and can see if this is the correct cemetery. donna ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 01, 2000 2:53 PM Subject: [ILGALLAT] Banks Cemetery > Hope everyone is having a happy New Year!! Fred & All, I forgot to mention, but if you have the 1880 census maybe you have seen Artisima as daughter of Thomas and Mary E. McKinzie. However, this McKinzie family is from White Co, and is most likely a part of the family that ties to some of my kin in White Co. You can find Thomas and Mary in the White co 1870 census, Indiana Creek Prc. with Artemis 9, Benjamin 5, Henry 3, Margaret 10mo. Also in household is Louisa Butry age 12. The sister of my ggg grandfather (Peggy Vineyard) married Alexander McKenzie. They had a son George that went by Thomas. He was born in 1838. I don't know if this is your Thomas but the age is within a year. I did not find a marriage for Thomas to a Mary E. I have George "Thomas" as married to Mary A. McMurtry and only show 1 child, a Stephen Douglas. If anyone knows about George "Thomas", I would like to know. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: Fred E.
