    1. William Wyatt Patton
    2. Joseph Dobbs
    3. This past week much has been made in the St. Louis area about finding the airplane and remains of William Wyatt Patton. It has been on TV, radio and in newspapers. It started with a front page story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Tuesday, Nov, 6, 2001. William was the pilot of a P-51 Mustang fighter plane. On February 22 a farmer in Longueville, France, who was installing a drainage system in his fields, discovered the wreckage of the plane and the pilots bones. The plane's ID number and the dog tags found in the wreckage identified the pilot as 1st Lt. William Wyatt Patton. The plane crashed on 15 Jan. 1945. A feature article on the life of William Wyatt Patton and his burial service was published in the Post-Dispatch on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. William Wyatt Patton had lived in Stark City, MO. The name Wyatt connected to Patton rang a bell. Stark City, MO is located very close to Barry County, MO. Using the information provided by Lynn Mittet at Worldconnect.Rootsweb.com it was a simple matter to connect William Wyatt Patton to Robert Wiatt Patton and Mary Womack. Robert Wiatt Patton was the son of Robert Patton and Elizabeth Guthrie. Sometime between 1850 and 1860 Robert Wiatt Patton, along with his brother William Dixon Patton left Hardin County, IL to settle in Barry County, MO. Just thought someone might be interested.

    1. WILLIAMS
    2. Hello Listers, I am resarching John M. WILLIAMS. I found his widow, Maria (Mariah) and children, Jemima (b. NC 1844), Margaret (b. TN 1846), Catherine (b. TN 1848) and Andrew G. (b. TN 1844) on the Gallatin County IL 1870 census. That December, Catherine (my gg gm) married Ira Hutchinson. I have been able to trace her; I visited her grave it Posey County IN. I am trying to determine when the WILLIAMS family got to Gallatin County. I do not know where in TN any of the children were born, nor do I know when or where John and Maria were married. I know that they were both born in NC. Family information says that John died during the War Between the States, by drowning. He is supposedly buried in Dover, TN. I did not find him there, even when I was there. Family also says that when the WILLIAMS got to IL that they had two girls with them, children of a former marriage. It is unknown whose previous marriage. They were not living with Maria in 1870. I have been unable to find any of my WILLIAMS on any census prior to 1870. I have the following marriages for the WILLIAMS children: Jemima WILLIAMS m. Unknown GINGER, unknown date Margaret WILLIAMS m. Melton CAPEHEART, unknown date Catherine WILLIAMS m. Ira HUTCHINSON, Dec 1870 Andrew G. WILLIAMS m. Laura E. CAPEHEART, Mar 1871 (The CAPEHEARTs were neighbors). Any ideas for me? Kathryne from New York
