    2. Kathy Hoeldke
    3. URGENT REQUEST!: Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address. Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions. It is not copyrighted. Kathy kathyhoeldke@sympatico.ca ldyk@hotmail.ca

    3. Unfortunately, according to the County Clerk's office, the application process did not start until the 1870's, so my gr-gr-grandparents documentation did not indicate who their parents were. -----Original Message----- From: AmericaSearch@aol.com [mailto:AmericaSearch@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 1:30 PM To: ILGALLAT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Marriage license cost The dates are from 1763 - 1900. 1. Migration to Washington Territory
    2. Jon Musgrave
    3. Hello, I just came across this tidbit from the Jan. 1, 1881 issue of The (Shawneetown, Ill.) Local Record. It provides information on an apparent migration of Gallatin County residents to Washington Territory. Here it goes: Congratulatory. Ft. McKinney, W. T., Dec. 20, 1880. Editor Local Record, Shawneetown, Illinois --- Dear Sir: The many friends of Samuel M. Smyth, noticing from an edition of your valuable paper that he had taken unto himself a "better half," take this opportunity of offering their congratulations. Richard Ritcher, H. R. Mann, O. J. Smyth, Peter McGiunis, T. J. Foster and wife, A. Soncsberger and wife, J. A. Stanley and wife, T. Creighton and wife..." There are at least two more names listed in the paper. However, I was copying another article and didn't include enough of the page to read it all. Sincerely, Jon Musgrave www.IllinoisHistory.com

    1. Gidcomb
    2. Norman L. Gidcumb
    3. I am trying to verify the parents of Franklin Gidcomb, born Dec. 1882 in Gallatin County. I believe his father was Calvin Gidcumb. He left IL at age 13 for AR so would not be on any census as the 1890 are gone. WFT lists birth place as Immins, IL. Has anyone heard of it? Death Certificate lists Gallatin Co. as birth place. Mother would be Mrs. Lotta Downen (Downing) as listed in IL Marriage Index. She married Calvin Jan 1882 Gallatin Co. I would like to know also her maiden name and who she marriage first. >From the Gallatin County newspaper abstract Vol. IV I found a Laura Ulla Gidcumb, born 1877 and died Sep 1878. I believe her to be Calvin's daughter by first marriage. As she was born and died in between census I can not check there. How far back does Gallatin Co. have birth and death records? Thanks, Norm Gidcumb Thompsonville, MI
