I am having trouble with tracking down parents of William N Miller b 8/24/1848 Staunton, VA d. 11/14/1927 Canton, IL m. Elizabeth (aka Eliza) Tyler 9/11/1870 According to the Prairie Farmers Reliable Directory reprinted from 1917, stated he became a resident of Fulton County in 1859, making him only 11 years old at the time, but cannot find any records pointing to his family. At 1917, the publication also states he owned 225 acres in Buckheart Township Section 17, residing at Rte. 6, Canton. The 1900 census stated that a Bert Porter listed as a farm helper and born 4/18/1879 resided with the couple and their children. The 1910 census stated that the farm was mortgaged per the census #9 Farm Schedule, and also that year he noted he had been married 37 years, meaning Eliza may not be the mother of the oldest child, James Almerian (aka J. Allie) Miller b. 9/18/1871 in Canton d. 12/24/1956 in Canton, IL.
