    1. Stephen Payne (1816-1889) and Catharine Dunn Payne (d. 1865)
    2. Hi, folks This is a certified fishing expedition. I'm looking for anything I can find about my great-great grandparents, Stephen and Catharine (Dunn) Payne. A biography of Stephen was published Chapman's 1879 history of the county. He was then living in Lee Township (Section 5) and was a widower. The bio said his wife, Catharine, had died in 1865. Anyone know where she might be buried? Stephen later moved to Nebraska with one of his children and died there in 1889. He was also a Civil War veteran, having served in Co. D, 70th Illinois Infantry; Co. I, 16th Illinois Cavalry; and Co. E, Veteran Reserve Corps. Stephen and Catharine had seven children whom I have identified. They include: 1. Isaac (1846-1912), m. Emily A. Bourgoise 2. Lewis M. (b. 1847) 3. Pocahontas (b. 1848) 4. Louisiana (1850-1935) m. (1) John Mott and (2) John Couch 5. Kate (m. 1854) 6. James (b. 1857) 7. George Washington Payne (1861-1935) m. Mary Luetta Gick (my great grandparents) As you can see, I don't know what became of most of these children. And I'd like to! Hope to hear from someone. Mark E.
