Thomas had a law firm in London Mills, Fulton Co. Illinois & was in partnership with his son Stockton who was also the administrator of his will. It appears he signed his will on his death bed & the children had a few things to say about it, thank god. Otherwise I wonder if I would have ever found them were it not for all of the court papers. The children at the time of his death were spread out into Iowa, Missouri, Kansas & some stayed in Illinois. With that many children & descendents I sure hope this sounds familiar to someone that can help with stories & dates to help fill in the gaps. Where would I go to find out about businesses in the late 1800's. Is there a historical society in London Mills or Fulton County ? On our trip to the midwest from New Jersey I was looking at microfilm records & at 4:15pm when I found this file I got goosebumps, but only had 15 minutes before they closed to copy a few records in the IRAD office in Macomb, Ill. Would love to hear from all those missing relatives or anyone that could supply stories. The best part of genealogy work is the personal details & discoveries that are made.
