    1. Re: Amy THARP-PALMERTON
    2. Jan Missouri was a common name during the mid to late 1800's. I have two relatives who were named Missouri Louisiana, maybe that was true here. A lot of people are given names their parents think are cute or are very trendy only to have them thought stupid 30 years later. So they go by thier middle name or even change thier name. My great grandmother was named Marietta but changed it (without legal action) to Etta and used Etta when she got her delayed birthcertificate in the 1940's. She named her daughter Diamond Opal after the stones in her wedding ring. My grandmother used Opal Dean after she left home - again without benefit of legal change. But is the Lou in Mrs. Lou (Ford) Thorp her (I am not sure who the her is - Amy or Missouri) her fathers name i.e. Lou Thorp and unkown Ford? Julia Coldren-Walker
