Fulton Co, Illinois, March 1847, son of JOSEPH PAINTER who came from London, England, and CAROLINE (TEMPLER) PAINTER, also a native of England. They had children: James, Emily, Emily M. (2), Caroline, Lewis, William H., Salina G. and Henry. Lewis Painter married MARY L. WHITCOMB (Ohio) in 1866, she the daughter of ORRIN and LYDIA (BUTLER) WHITCOMB. Lewis and Mary had children: Joseph, James, Lydia, Ira, Seth, Jennie, Burleigh, and Jay C. CHARLES H. SHERRADEN, son of Hon. Oliver P. Sherraden and Lydia (Johnson) Sherraden, was born at Canton (Fulton Co) Illinois August 26, 1845. LYDIA JOHNSON SHERRADEN was the daughter of IRA JOHNSON, a long time resident of Canton and who lived there until age 86, when he died. At age 14, CHARLES SHERRADEN moved with his family to Iowa where Charles later became a "leading photographer." Charles first married LUVENIA YOUNG who died in 1872; he then married MARY J.
