The three brothers were John, Peter, and Lewis Walling. All three died in the period 1878-1885; they were all born between 1798 and 1807. They were all born in NY or NJ. I think the family's migration pattern was this: Sussex County NJ until about 1800 -- then someplace in NY until about 1815 or so -- then to Ashtabula County Ohio until about 1837. Then about 1837 the parents and one brother (Joel) went to Franklin County OH, the 3 brothers went to Fulton County IL, and my Abram went to KY where he ended up going to medical school before he moved to MO in 1840. I am completely obsessed with research on the Walling family. After 10 years of diligent looking, = I found what I think are Abram's parents -- and actually, I didn't find them -- a fellow researcher did. The researcher and I had been in contact previously, decided our families weren't the same. Turns out the brother Joel Walling is her ancestor. She found land records in Ashtabula County Ohio that pretty well imply that there are these five brothers; I think I know another one, a Croel Walling). So that gave us the parents John & Hulda Walling. But I don't know Huldah's maiden name or the parents of either John or Huldah. I'm hoping to find some clues in Fulton County as to the background of the three brothers who went there. I'm enjoying my retirement of 8 months now. The months are just flying by= . I had a lot of qualms about retiring. I was an analyst for the Alaska Public Utilities Commission for 20 years. It was an interesting, but pretty stressful job. I thought I'd miss the work. I haven't missed it for even 5 minutes. I had great friends from work but I still see them occasionally. I think you'll really like retirement. I know some people are bored, but = I haven't been even for a minute. I feel like I finally have time to do the things I've always wanted to do. To tell the truth my only problem is tha= t I feel a little guilty having so much fun all the time -- this is the firs= t time since I was five years old that I haven't had the full responsibilities of school, children, work, or all three. What names in Fulton County are you researching?? Our children are grown and gone also. My son, Tom, is in the US Navy for 15 years and is currently stationed at San Diego. He is an Air Traffic Controller and will retire in five years at the same time I do. I am a UPS driver and have 20 years in. I love my job and the people that I meet. I have made great friends. I will miss all of that when I retire, but my husband and I purchased 4 acres of ground in Colorado several years ago with the idea of retireing there. Our daughter, Tara, and her son Justin live in a suburb of Denver so we will be close to them. We make several trips west each year. Vicki < --part1_918131329_boundary-- --part0_918131329_boundary--
