Hello, I can't find my 3rd grt grndfather, Joseph Mansfield James, on the 1880 IL Census, with his family. He was born Oct.6, 1852, Fulton Co, and married Arminda Moore on Sep.11, 1879, in Fulton Co. She is on the 1880 IL Census, Farmers Twp, as Arminda Jane James. I can't figure out where Joseph Mansfield was hiding? I don't believe that he was in the Civil War....They were married for many, many years and had a big family. Is there a Soundex for the 1880 IL Census? Or, perhaps an index? He was not living with his family in 1880, either. If he was hospitalized, would there be a record of it? Then there is always the possibility of 'jail'? Regrds, J Goodwin
