    3. MINER family was mentioned in an earler query " History of Fulton County Illinois" 1879 Chapman. Ex: Jesse V. SHIELDS, farmer. P.O. Astoria; is a native of Harrison Co., Ind., where he was b. 1814; during the autumn of 1828 he accompanied his mother and two brothers to Ill., locating in Schuyler Co., in 1829 they settled in Woodland tp., where Jesse in now the only survivor of this once numerous family; Feb. 11 '36 Mr. S. was united in marriage with Miss Rebecca MINER, of Indiana, by whom he had 13 children, 8 of whom are living; their names are; Mary Ann, Nathan, Emisis, Wm., Eliza, Susan, Ettie, Lucy, Mr. S owns 160 acres of land in this township.
