My understanding is that the State of IL sets a maximum that a county MAY charge. Each county then sets its own policy and pricing within those parameters. All counties in IL do not charge $11 for a copy of a marriage certificate or require that they be certified. The State does set the fees for copies of records that are kept in the Clerk of the Circuit Court offices. I visited several counties in IL last summer and paid a different price for marriage and death records in each one. LouAnn in NC
