I am seeking information about William B Snyder born 22 Feb 1858 to Elizabeth Wensinger/Wenzinger and Jacob or Isaac Snyder. Elizabeth and Jacob or Isaac were reportedly born in Switzerland. I have two completely different stories about what happened after William was born - either Elizabeth and her husband died, leaving William to be raised by a bline aunt (name unknown) or the family moved to St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO. His death certificate says he was born in Fulton, IL, but that line says to put in either the city, town or county, and then the state. Whiteside County folks have no record of him, so I thought I might check with the Fulton County folks. I need a birth record to clarify the father's name, among other things. Thank you. Hi, Christine I don't know if this will be of much help. You might want to check the possibility that the family was still in Illinois shortly after William's birth. I have the 1860 Illinois Census Index on CD. Unfortunately, this index does not give age or birthplace, so it's difficult to pinpoint individuals.
