James Magruder Connell and his wife Martha Ann Wells moved from Wellsburg, West Virginia to Ipave, Farmers Twp. Fulton county about 1852. James Connell died August 24, 1877. He and his wife are buried in a small graveyard on a farm owned in 1929 by Clarinda Connell Zoll (his daughter) and the wife of Henry D. Zoll. The cemetery is located in Farmers Twp. about two miles from the farm on which Sarah Connell made her home in Illinois. James brother, David, who never married, as well as Clarinda Connell Zoll and her husband Henry Zoll are buried there. James Mother, Sarah Magruder Connell is also buried in the ZOLL family cemetery. Mary Baumgardner, who did the research on the Connells was descended from James Magruder Connell. Her mother was Ella Connell, who was married to Rees W. David. Original records were kept in a 6x10x18 Walnut box left by James Connell to his descendants. It contains copies of deeds, notes,,etc. many of which had been the property of Solomon Connell, and a few of James Magruders. Owned in 1929 by Mrs. Winifred D. Brown, who was the gr.daughter of James (James, Ella, Margaret Winifred). She was b. 1882, m. Arthur Brown 1898., lived in Illinois, 1929. It is said she also had the Connell family bible. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any research into these families. Doris Doris F. Williams [email protected] http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/i/l/Doris-Williams-MO/
