Well, as far as my guys went, they immigrated in 1854 and 1853 and filled out his "final papers" in the September term of 1859. They would have had to bring four credible witnesses with them to prove that they had lived in the US for "5 years continuously and for more than one year in the state of Illinois" (This was from the paperwork they signed.)
