    1. [ILFULTON] 1838 Fulton County Courthouse
    2. R. Max Latimer
    3. The courthouse on the Fulton County homepage of the USGenWeb Project was destroyed by fire in 1894. The two front center pillars now stand in Oakhill Cemetery. They are called the Lincoln Pillars since Abraham Lincoln spoke standing between them in 1858 during campaigning for the presidency. The pillars can be seen by visiting the great Lewistown, IL website created by the talented and dedicated Fulton County historian Charlie Parkinson; AKA "Spoon River Charlie": http://cop42.tripod.com/ltown.html The current courthouse was built in 1897 & 1898. Visit Charlie's excellent website for considerable information on Lewiston and Fulton County ! ! You'll be glad you did. Be sure to visit all of the links. Max
