Hello list. I;m in need of help on a subject . My Gt Grandfather Sam Locke son Of Benjaman Locke and Elizabeth Lyons, bn 1847/48 Ill moved to Tx about 1855. but here's my problem. i alway heard we were of indian decent, and my grandather had indian papers , any way to make a long story short, i had a death of a dear cousin and going thur his papers there were notes that his mother had on each of Sams sisters and even how many born in ohio and how many in illinois. but there were two sets of indian numbers from ill. what type of tribes of indians were in fulton co during 1840's and 50's and how do i find where to get a copy of those app's. that would help me trase my Lyons and get the father and mother of Elizabeth.???? will be glad to pay some one to do those look-ups. A word of incouragement. never give up on looking for your hertiage. i'm been 15 years at a dead-end and it was in my familys notes all this time. each member has a piece of a puzzle and hope i can find another piece, anyhelp on indians in Fulton Co would really give me another lead. didnt know there were indians there. i have the numbers if anyone does this type of look-ups .e-mail me and will give you the numbers if anyone has access to roll numbers . Thanks so much. Hettie Locke
Hettie, Here is a source that will tell you the tribes in Il. http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/illinois/index.htm There are also Cherokee rolls and the Miller Rolls for finding your Indian numbers. I have lost the link for them put still trying to look for them for you. You might go back on the above link and find it there. I didn't look through all of it. I am so glad that you found your Native American Link. I am still trying to find mine.
