CLAIR, WARDELL, WHITTAKER I am researching the Jonas and Delilah BURGE MORGAN family in Fulton County, Putman Township, Illinois. I am attempting to prove a connection between my BREWER lineage and the BREWER connection to MORGAN. I believe Jonas and Delilah BURGE MORGAN's daughter, Elmira (alias Almira, Elmyra, Ella) could be the first wife (or some relation) to my William BREWER (born March 15, 1862 Ohio, died Feb. 3, 1925 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois). The Illinois Marriage Index shows Almira MORGAN married a William H. BREWER in Fulton County Illinois on Jan. 10, 1878. The 1880 census shows Elmyra having 2 BREWER children (Florence M. & Jonas, but her husband Wm. isn't there. I believe I found Wm. BREWER living in Marion County, Missouri with LARSON family. BREWER obit. he was born March 15, 1862 in Ohio and married Lula Rebecca REDDICK ROGERS Sept. 28, 1905 in Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri. His survivors were his widow and 5 children- Leslie (alias William Roy Leslie or W. R. Leslie), Sarah, Otis BREWER and George Buhler ROGERS and one brother John William BREWER. The Duker Funeral Home records show Wm. BREWER was born Jan. 15, 1862 in Ohio and his parents were William and Louise HILL BREWER and he married Lula RETTIG. Known FACTS: Wm. and Lula BREWER had 2 children Sarah Irene (married Carl McMULLEN) and Otis Charles (married Elsa M. CLEESEN). William's brother, John William BREWER was born Feb. 27, 1857 in Ohio (poss. Finley) He died June 27, 1927 in Quincy, Adams Co. IL. He married Hester (aka - Hattie) Miranda ROGERS (WARDELL) on Jan. 24, 1878 in Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri. She was a daughter of John M. WARDELL (alias ROGERS) and his wife Elizabeth (aka- Lizzie) Caroline GOLLAGHER ( maiden name varies GOLLIHER, GALLAGHER etc.) John M. and Lizzie divorced and she then marriage William E. LANE and lived in Hannibal. Lizzie was known as "Granny LANE". William BREWER married Lula Rebecca REDDICK ROGERS. Lula was the first married to George Buhler ROGERS, the brother of Hester (Hattie) WARDELL ROGERS (above) Obit on W. R. Leslie BREWER states he was born Aug. 23, 1892 near Kinderhook, Pike County, Illinois. He was discharged from the army as totally disabled on Sept. 3, 1918. He was a chef at the DeLuxe Cafe in Hannibal, Mo. before enlisting in the service at New London, Ralls County, Missouri. He lived in Hull, Pike County, IL. and then moved to Quincy, Adams County, Illinois where he died on Nov. 30, 1925. Survivors- his widow Letha WHITTAKER BREWER, a son; Ora BREWER, mother, Mrs. Anna ST. CLAIR, sister's Mrs. Willis (Cora L.) MOORE and Mrs. Carl (Sarah Irene) McMULLEN Obit for Mrs. Anna ST. CLAIR states she was born April 6, 1869 a daughter of John and Frances Elizabeth GARNER MORGAN. She died late Jan. 1938 in Quincy IL. Her husband was William ST. CLAIR and son Leslie preceded her in death. Survivors- a daughter Cora MOORE & 2 brother; James MORGAN of Quincy and Lee MORGAN of Marblehead, Adams Co. IL., a sister, Mrs. Frances Elizabeth CRANE of Moberly, Randolph County, Mo., 5 grandchildren Mrs. Florence HESTER, Russell, Cecil and Delores MOORE on Payson, Adams Co. IL, and Ora BREWER of Quincy. Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy IL. Records: Block B, Lot 39 - owner was Letha WHITTAKER BREWER MILLS (owner before her James MORGAN who lived 419 1/2 No. 4th. His name is crossed out.) 6 burial sites brought and there are only 4 burials: 1. Anna ST.CLAIR died Jan 26, 1938 - no stone 2. W. R. Leslie BREWER died Nov 30, 1925 - Military stone- MO Pvt.162 Depot Brig. 3. Bonita E. WHITTAKER died Feb 23, 1922- no stone 4. Elizabeth MORGAN died April 29, 1934 On the back of the index card at Greenmount Cemetery a note was written perhaps about 1968 according to the secretary at Greenmount. Last owners of the lot were Ora & Pansy BREWER, 4247 Descanso, Chino, California ---------------------- I checked the Social Security death index and found: Ora BREWER born Nov 27, 1901 and died May 1969 in Long Beach, Los Angeles, Calif. No Pansy BREWER MILLS, Letha Mildred, Cert# 2290124, death date Aug 29, 1925, Canton, Fulton County , Filed Date Aug 31, 1925 ---------------- Can anyone provide the missing link?
