    2. Hi, ListMembers, When Mary Ann MILLER married John A. HAMILTON in Fulton County, IL, on the 02 April, 1865.........in Lewistown, IL; her father, did not sign her 'warrant'. I do not know why? However, it is signed by an Albertus NICKELL. Is anyone out there familiar with this name? I would like to know how and if the MILLERs are related to the NICKELLs..... Thanks for any help that you can give...I appreciate it. Judy Goodwin Researching: MILLER, OLIVER, WAUGHTEL, HUKILL, MELVIN, MOORE, JAMES, COONS, among others...

    1. Re: Missing on census
    2. Hi--I'll add m;y 2 cents to the question of where Joseph Mansfiled James was and why he doesn't turn up on the census. First, Yes, there IS a soundex listing for the 1880 IL census--I've used it several times. Second, I have been told that the 1880 soundex ONLY includes listings of families that had children under the age of 10 at the time. Therefore, you could find his wife if she were living with someone with children, or if she had one of her own by then. You would not find her husband anywhere if he was living alone, or in a boarding house while looking for land or a new place to live. Hope this makes things a little clearer, if not easier. Debbie

    3. Can anyone help me? Know of any hospitals/doctors in the Farmington area? I don't have access to City Directories down here for that town. I'm looking for any info on a family: Anton DOCHES and his wife, Petronella (Kaiser) DOCHES, and their son Michael Joseph DOCHES born 8 Oct 1916 in Farmington. Anyone have any ideas I can start persuing? I've got Michael's death and birth certificates then it's the "deadend" of information. 1. Question Re 1880 IL Census
    2. Hello, I can't find my 3rd grt grndfather, Joseph Mansfield James, on the 1880 IL Census, with his family. He was born Oct.6, 1852, Fulton Co, and married Arminda Moore on Sep.11, 1879, in Fulton Co. She is on the 1880 IL Census, Farmers Twp, as Arminda Jane James. I can't figure out where Joseph Mansfield was hiding? I don't believe that he was in the Civil War....They were married for many, many years and had a big family. Is there a Soundex for the 1880 IL Census? Or, perhaps an index? He was not living with his family in 1880, either. If he was hospitalized, would there be a record of it? Then there is always the possibility of 'jail'? Regrds, J Goodwin

    3. I would be interested in any information concerning Richard W. FREEMAN who lived in Fulton county 1829-1846, specifically his gravesite (apparently not in the Freeman cemetery near Duncan Mills unless there was no marker) and the location of his daughters Maria Louise and Sarah after his death. I would also love to hear from others researching the Freeman and Benson families. Thanks.

    3. I cannot seem to find my way to the archives of this list. Not surprising. It's been one of those weeks, even if it IS only Monday. When I wiped out my address list a week or so ago, I also lost the messages I had tucked away for safe-keeping, so I must bother the entire list with my request. One of those messages referred to a site which had "tons" of Fulton Co., information listed by individual. The owner of the page responded, and I am hoping that I will be able to communicate with that person regarding a possible update of some of the information since I have about 100 years worth of family on both sides who lived in Fulton County. Sorry, I don't even have your name, but I would love to chat with you. Thanks, Jodi Emblen-Morris emblen@ups.edu University of Puget Sound Washington State
