If anyone is researching HAMILTON or RIST surnames in Fulton Co., I found a great biography of GEORGE W. HAMILTON, son of John and Barbara (Rist) Hamilton. George born Fulton Co, IL, and raised by his grandfather JACOB RIST after the death of his parents. George settled in Pottawattamie Co, Iowa, and I have a biographical history of that co with George listed in it. E-mail me at MonaNAriz@AOL.com if you have any interest. This book, by the way, lists many people who migrated into Iowa from Illinois.
Searching for any information on deaths of these three people. Eli CHASE, my gg grandfather was "killed in the Galena Lead Mines" according to my information on 27 Jun 1828. He owned a farm in Fulton Co. and according to records I have been able to find had a "license" to mine in Jo Davies Co. His wife, Betsy MANCHESTER CHASE remarried on 16 Jun 1831 to John TAYLOR. They lived in Fulton County, and, I think she died there. I have hints that he may have died while on a trip to MO. Does anyone know where they might be buried or the dates of death? Was there a newspaper published in that area in the time frame of 1828 when Eli was "killed?" Some of the children of Eli and Betsy moved to Iowa, as did my g grandfather, Eli 2. He married Nance DAUGHERTY on 12 Sep 1841 in Fulton Co. Any help appreciated. Jeanne T. Lane

Are you an Ellsworth descendant? Did your grand-mother (or gr-grandmother), Carrie Baxter Ellsworth, receive an inheritance of $41.91 from her grandfather, John Price, in 1890? If so, we're related! Drop me a line. Jim Smith

We are working on our family genealogy and could sure use some help. Our great grandmother was Rachel Myers (not sure this is the correct Myers spelling) and she married William Page. The family tale is that she died in/near/around Fulton Co. but no one has a date of death or burial. We really need some help on this. We do know that her parents were John Myers and Lucinda. Rachel was born in Ohio 9/20/1830. Do you have a death index? Thank you for trying to help us. Z

Seek info on cemetary near Babylon, IL (Fulton Co) as ancestors may be buried there. ELZA MAGERS (MAJORS) and wife ELIZABETH PATTERSON MAGERS lived in Fulton Co 1854-1890, moving there from Kentucky; then moved to Nebraska. One daughter Anna married LEVI DERTINGER in Fulton Co; another daughter Sarah married JOHN BYERLY in Fulton Co. Elizabeth (and other children) may have died there before family went to Nebraska. A bio in "History of Fulton County" describes Elza as living "1 1/2 miles southeast of Babylon." Will share other info. Can someone tell me of a cemetary near Babylon; I'm told a very old one is there but abandoned. The family attended United Evangelical Church (Methodist). Thanks.
