    1. Fulton County Lookups
    2. I enjoy doing volunteer lookups; and will check my references for other Fulton County family researchers. I have 1850, 1860 and 1870 Federal census; Murphy-Sedgewick Memorial Home Funeral Records - Canton, IL (1885-1962); Fulton County cemeteries; Portrait & Biographical Album of Fulton County, Illinois - 1890 and Fulton County marriage index 1824-1910. I have 1880 and 1900 census on microfilm; and will read the film if you know the township (any except Canton, Farmington and Lewistown - they're too big) Lyde@aol.com

    2. In a message dated 5/28/99 Mia writes: << Evan (or others with the same resource): I am searching for information on Stephen Arnold Douglas Bishop. I believe that his parents were James Bishop and Charlotte Arnold. I found James Bishop and his family in the 1860 census for Avon, Fulton County, Illinois. But, Stephen was not born until about 1868 so he was not listed with his older siblings in the 1860 census. I would very much like to find out if he is listed in the 1870 IL census so I could determine if I have identified the correct parents for him. Thank you very much, >> Mia, What I have in an INDEX of the 1870 census and it includes only Head of Household, for the most part. I cannot search for children, sorry. However, there was no James BISHOP listed in Fulton Co. There were seven BISHOPs in Fulton Co., all but two were in Putman Twp, none were in Avon. There were tons of James BISHOPs listed for all of ILL, so he could have moved or died. If he died, his widow would have been listed. I did find one Charlotte, not in Fulton Co., however: Surname, Given name, age, sex, race, birthplace, census county, census locality, M593-roll, page BISHOP, CHARLOTTE, 49, F, W, MA, SANGAMON, SPRINGFIELD, 282, 507 Hopefully, someone with the 1870 census itself can check these things for you. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Evan

    2. Hi all! I sent off for the civil war records of W. E. Lock, one of the residents of the county that enlisted for the war. After a couple of months of waiting for a reply, the form was sent back to me as "incomplete information", even though I had the dates, places, regiments.....ect. But because I did not know what the initials W. E. stood for it was considered incomplete. So, now what do I do? Is there a roster in the county of enlistees that may be able to clarify this person's full name? Thanks for any assistance you can give me. Bev
