I am in desperate need of them for the following people: Susannah Harding Wheeler Harris who died Aug.23, 1932 and Jessie Harris Kington who died Nov. 24, 1942. They both died in Canton and are both buried in Greenwood Cemetery there. Thanks so much. Carolyn Barrett

Michael LYNCH married and raised a large family in Canton, Fulton Co. Julia LYNCH m. Sylvester WATERS, also b Ireland, in 1853, they removed to Utica, LaSalle Co. where they both died after raising a large family. Thanks Kate

    3. Jerry, Do you know if Martin and Sarah are buried in the Greenwood Cem. at Canton? Or in Yates City?? My James REED d. in 1914 also. I found all those records @ the Fulton County Courthouse--(Great people, there, BTW!) James' wife, Margarets' mother, Eliz. MITCHELL d. in 1907. Same dates as your two. I found James stone in the Grn'wood cemetery, and his wife, but not Eliz. and James Mitchell as yet. (It got dark and I couldn't see). Did get good pictures in the dark, w/car lites and a flashlite<G>. What I noticed in the cemetery book, of importance, it gives an informant's name w/ most all the death transcriptions. That is where i found brothers and sisters, and sons and daughters, of the deceased. The cemetery books are on one shelf, all together, and are *fascinating* reading. Great credit to the people who have done these!!! I need to go back to Fulton Co., but not sure if it will be this summer or not. But....if i do...maybe... Ginny Seaholm Horicon, WI ********************************* > Martin and Sarah Brice VanTine were born in New Jersey, and came to Fulton County, where he died in Yates City in Knox County. They had lived in Canton for awhile. I am looking for any information on Martin and Sarah from Census Records, or any other records where I can prove who Martins brothers and sisters were. The story we hear, is that Martin travelled alot in a covered wagon, and Sarah stayed at home. Martin travelled alot between Peoria and Iowa. If anyone has any information, I would love to hear from you. Martin was born in 1839 in New Jersey, and died in 1914. 3. I recently received the obit of Amy Tharp-Palmerton, b. 1875-d. 1962. She may have children/grandchildren, etc. still living, so I will not mention any of the names. I am 99% sure that she is my great aunt. However, I do have a question or two, and hope there is someone who has the answers. Amy and Rosa are listed on the 1880 IL. census with parents, John and Missouri. Was Missouri a nickname? Mrs. Lou (Ford) Tharp is listed as her mother. Her father would be John, b. NJ. 1845. Would like to find if Amy and Rosa had more siblings, and if I am fortunate, I may find our/their NJ. beginnings-<1790. Jan

    2. Jan Missouri was a common name during the mid to late 1800's. I have two relatives who were named Missouri Louisiana, maybe that was true here. A lot of people are given names their parents think are cute or are very trendy only to have them thought stupid 30 years later. So they go by thier middle name or even change thier name. My great grandmother was named Marietta but changed it (without legal action) to Etta and used Etta when she got her delayed birthcertificate in the 1940's. She named her daughter Diamond Opal after the stones in her wedding ring. My grandmother used Opal Dean after she left home - again without benefit of legal change. But is the Lou in Mrs. Lou (Ford) Thorp her (I am not sure who the her is - Amy or Missouri) her fathers name i.e. Lou Thorp and unkown Ford? Julia Coldren-Walker

    3. I am trying to trace an ancestor Alfred LEYSHON, known to have lived in Cuba, Fulton County. I have recently discovered that he was a pall-bearer at the funeral of Mary MURPHY, who died 27 August 1926, aged 73 and was buried in Cuba Cemetery. This information came from the records of C D Taylor Funeral Home, Cuba. Could any lister tell me which newspaper may have printed an obituary at that time, as that would hopefully give me more information. Many thanks Shirley Askins Cardiff UK
