Deborah - Doing lookups for other researchers is great fun for me, mostly because my references are the result of the wonderful and diligent work of the Fulton County Historical and Genealogical Society. Those volunteers who, over the years, have put so much time and energy into compiling this work, went over and above what could be expected from volunteers. I'm not from Fulton County; and am not even a member; but use their work every day. Hats off to Fulton County Historical and Genealogical Society!! You've made research a lot easier for all of us! Lyde
Dear Lyde et al., Thank you for doing the lookup on Amy EBBERT. I had never known her death date or burial location. We always thought she was buried at South Fulton cemetery. I had to smile, though, at the way her parents' names were spelled in the record book -- "Brunnean" should be Brenneman and "Mary E. Zents"should be Mary Ann Wantz. Ebbert is often misspelled Eppert, Wantz can be spelled Vantz, Brenneman is spelled about 10 different ways....you get the picture. It certainly complicates genealogical research. I wish I could attribute all the misspellings to old-fashioned handwriting. But just yesterday I had to call the DMV -- they misprinted my driver's license! And the IRS doesn't think my son exists because SSA made a name error on his Social Security records. I appreciate all the help I've received from on-line researchers. Thanks again! Hi, Looking for the following families in Fulton Co. Swift family from Canton Ill, David James Swift and his wife Maggie. And the family of Andrew Jackson Carlon, he married Barbara Ann Wolf, daughter of Jacob Wolf . And the faimily of Jacob Ulmer, died Lewistown Ill, in 1835 or so. Thank you Rick James
Dear Lyde, Thank you very much for offering to do lookups. My great-grandmother, Amy (or Emma) Brenneman EBBERT, died in Canton around 1913 --definitely after 1912 and before 1916. We don't know the exact date (we have her obituary, but there's no date on it.) Is she listed in your book? She was living with her daughter, Eva Ebbert, when she died. Eva was a teacher in the Canton schools for a number of years. Deborah Boguszewski Roseville, MN
looking for info on the deaths of William Gilfillan and Calvin Young who died in the Fulton county area some time before 1910 could some one look it up for me please. Thank you craftpad@aol.com
I will be glad to do look-ups in my Funeral Home Record book for Canton; but I didn't explain that the records are from 1885-1962 only. There is some valuable genealogical information in many of them; and very little in some of them. Lyde
Looking for William Gilfillan and Calvin Young could you check your book to see death date. Thanks Mary
I would like to thank everyone who sent me info on my Bird family. I couldn't hardly believe all of the responses. Some were duplicate so in case I didn't Thank-You... If you love them >and are their friend, send it back! Keep this poem going! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Could someone check the phone book for me and get the addresses of any Levar families in Norris, IL? I would like to contact my cousins and see if anyone else is researching the family. Patti Levar in California
ST. DAVID AND DUNFERMLINE STILL HAS SEVERAL CROATIAN FAMILIES http://community.webtv.net/NURSERACHETT57/THEHOMEOFJIMJUDY
Yes, there was a Croatian community in the area. I have Murphy-Sedgewick Memorial Home records and Fulton County cemetery inscriptions published by the Fulton County Historical and Genealogical Society. Most were buried by that Funeral Home. I do volunteer lookups from those references. Let me know if I can help. Lyde
Does anyone know if there was a Croatian community living around Canton, Norris or Peoria in the early 1900s. They were probably working as coal miners. Is there history on line? Patti in California
I am searching for information on John Berry and his family who lived near Farmington in Fulton county. They arrived there in 1838/39. He died about 1849. He married Hannah Hull in Licking County, Ohio , Feb 20, 1816. Their children were Mary, Susan, Elizabeth, Levi, Willis,William and Sarah. All the children were born in Ohio, I think, except Sarah, who was born in Indiana in 1839. Sarah (Berry) Mckeighan is my gr grandmother. I would appreciate hearing from and/or sharing information with someone else researching. Pat Salyer
My great grandfather, Toma Levar, died 28 APR 1918, as a result of a mining accident. At the time he lived in Canton or Norris. Are there any records of mining accidents. I don't know if this was a major accident for the mine, or if just he was killed. He actually died in Peoria, but that may just have been where the hospital was located. Patti Levar
Just read the article on George Tyre posted by Walter Evans. I tried to e-mail Walter Evans and his e-mail is no longer current. I am researching Jesse James Singleton. His first daughter was born in Vernon County, Missouri and married Emmett Tyre. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Amanda

Phone Fulton County Clerk and ask for cost of copy of death record. Usually, it's less expensive if you specify "uncertified copy". Send money order or check in self- addressed, stamped envelope. The address of the Fulton County Clerk is on the Fulton County Home Page. Lyde
