Dear Listers: I just received the long awaited Civil War Pension file from NARA. This reveals that Joseph H. Fitch died on March 29, 1893. He was married to Elizabeth Mann. Part of the application was for a minor child, Birdie Fitch. He was under 16 and "feeble minded". His guardian was Orsic Bennett; somehow related through marriage (which I have been unable to find). I am desperately trying to locate the parents of Joseph H. Fitch. Census records indicate he was born in 1836 in PA. Can anyone tell me if an obituary would be available or a death certificate for that time? I certainly could use some help on this one! I have been searching for some time. Thanks! Karen

Is there an individual who lives close enough to Lewistown to do a lookup for me? I'm trying to determine when Joseph R. Ulm moved to Fulton County. To the best of my knowledge it was sometime during the 1880's. I don't need a copy of the land transaction, just the date. If he didn't purchase land, see if the Treasurer's Office has a record of when he first started paying taxes. Thanks, Jim

Dear Connie, This mailing list is to post your Fulton County-related genealogy queries. Thank you for joining our friendly group of family researchers. Your May 14th message about BURGE and BANDY (see at bottom of this email) did indeed post to this list, and was received by our subscribers, thanks and welcome! You're right, it looks like the query posting posting page might not be working correctly on our ILGenWeb website at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilfulton/queries.htm That query page is my responsibility. Looks like it needs my attention, thank you for alerting me. I will try to get it functioning again this week. I am the volunteer Fulton Co. website coordinator as well as the mailing list administrator, and I will be more than happy to help you with problems regarding posting queries on that webpage. Let's please write to each other off-list, directly between you and me, to resolve this problem. Thank you, Alice <[email protected]> ILGenWeb Fulton County Coordinator and ILFulton List Admin http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilfulton/ Connie Wyatt wrote: >have already gone through this. i posted a query 3 times. all that >appears is my name and the date, not the message i posted. i do not want >to unsubscribe. i just want to know what i'm doing wrong. while >scrolling, i noticed it happened to others. apparrently, they gave up.. >not me. i know next to nothing about web sites or computers, but someone >can answer me without giving me a bunch of gobbledy-gook or referring me >to another site. > May 14th: >BURGE names: wesley b.(b.1862, d.1934). daniel matthew? jr.?, (b.1864, >d.1940). lewis harvey(b. 1866, d.1939). annie(b.1868, d.1944). minnie >bell(e), (b.1870, d.1942). martha ellen,(b.1872, d.196-?). frederick >edward, my grandfather,(b.1890, d. 1950). dates are approximate. except >grandpa's death. he died april, 1950 in ca., but is buried in canton >next to 1st wife, alta mae (BANDY), my grandmother. all were born in >fulton co. only info i have on grandma; b1899. d.1931 at age 32. my mom >was 6. minnie married luther(PERKINS) 1898 in calhoun co. don't know >cemetery where grandparents are buried, but suspect greenwood. my info. >all BURGE kids born to daniel BURGE @ susan or susannah(WHISMAN), >although, if dates are correct, there is 18 yr. difference between last >2, so some of my info may be wrong. also my info says they were born in >fulton, fulton co. no such place. however, a book, "Illinois Place >Names", by James N. Hello List, Looking for information on the Phillip G. Harbert family. This family along with so many others seems to have vanished. I have found that many family from the area had members die of yellow fever and this has lead to many finds and many more mysteries. Phillip Harbert died between 1851 and 1863. His wife Eliza remarried James Honey and had a couple more children. This Harbert family is indexed in the 1850 census as HERBERT which adds more confusion. The children of Phillip and Eliza Harbert are John Leard Harbert b. 1839 (my line) William C. Harbert b. abt 1842 Nancy Ann Harbert b. abt 1846 Mary Harbert b. abt 1848 Americus Harbert b. abt 1851 ( married Nancy Eddy/Ade) Any help or clues with this family or connecting them to the Harberts in McLean County would be of great help and appreciated. Unfortunately, the sender did not have the title page or citation. Could someone please identify the page and send me the title, author, date, etc.? Thanks very much. Pat Dolan <[email protected]>
