    1. Lucy Eva Sherwood and Phillip Heller
    2. I had been trying for a couple of years to find out who this Phillip was. I got their marriage license today (Only took a week to come after I mailed request) and finally know! Phillip Heller married Lucy Eva Sherwood, daughter of George Sherwood and Lucinda Coakley, on March 17, 1892. This was a second marriage for both. He was 33 and she 23. Phillip was the son of James B. Heller whose parents were Phillip Heller and Frances Markley. James was brother to John J. Heller who married Cornelia Teatsworth, my second gr-grandparents. John and Cornelia were parents to my great grandfather, Phillip Heller who married Sarah Miller. Lucy Eva Sherwood was married 3 times; first to Joseph Hoffman, second to Phillip Heller, third to Bruce Fordyce. I have all 3 certificates. I've been trying to find Phillips first wife but no luck, nothing in IL marriage index. I did find a census, 1880, with James and Mary, his parents and next door is a Phillip and Mary with children, Maud Reva (3) and James J (1). I think this might be the same Phillip I'm looking for but no proof. I found James and his family in 1860 and 1880 but not in 1870. Think the census taker passed them over that year. Will the confusion ever end? I think not. If it did then I would know it all. Carla Finley, Venice, FL My photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/carlafinley

    3. I am looking for my roots. 1880's miners from England. George Asquith married to Jane Dixon living with Isaac Inman. Sons, Thomas, Lloyd, Joseph, Dixon, Leon and Daughters Polly and Edith. Any newspaper accounts of the ball teams or football teams in the l900's. My grandfather was called Jocko Asquith or Lloyd Asquith and there was a Dick Asquith that may have died. I have an account from the "Centennial" or "Cuba Journal" regarding the ball teams that mention their names. I would like pictures and more information. I researched at the library on twice trying to find microfilm on old newspaper articles. I was denied getting a copy of the sesquicentennial paper as they said they were running low. Quite a blow since I had travelled 1200 miles to get it. But what can you say. She made a few copies of some pages. But I would like the whole paper. I think you are offering it now for $3.00. Any information I could receive would be appreciated.

    1. Re: [ILFULTON] COOPER/THURMAN/BYERLY/EFFLAND
    2. About THURMAN.... I just wanted to tell you that my GGGrandfather's (Uriah INGRAM) first wife was listed as "LIVONIA THURYMAN" from Versailles County IN. Livonia lived a short while in Hancock county IL and died a young woman. I had just assumed her last named was a misspelling of THURMAN. When I went to the records in Indiana, I found the family name was actually THOROUGHMAN. So if you have hit a road block with THURMAN, check the THOROUGHMAN name. Just a clue that might help!

It should read: But stories like these leave a pit in my stomach, as I have not been able to find any sign of my WILLIAMS family of Illinois 1840 Nauvoo - supposedly buried on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi. Nor can I find the resting place of my GGrandmother: Etta "May" INGRAM LONGWELL WAGNER, (b 1879) who supposedly lived in Fulton, IL (town of Vermont) as late as 1945. Thank you for your work Foxie. They were retelling family stories, and described an old family plot that was on the land her Grandparents bought in 1880. They kept the stones intact, and farmed around it. Most of us have one or two ancestors missing from our trees and wonder where they might be buried. It occurred to me that so many folks owned their own land back then maybe they were buried out under their favorite shade tree. As a kid growing up in Fulton Co. I remember seeing an old family cemetery not far from our place. The families name was KRAFT. (there may have been 8 burials) They had at least 3 children that died one right after another. I remember thinking how sad it must have been for them to have lost their children so close together and they were all so young . That family cemetery unfortunately was destroyed about 20 years ago, maybe longer by the owner of the land. As far as I know this cemetery wasn't recorded by the FCH&GS. It would be interesting to know if others on this list know of similar family cemeteries in the Fulton Co. area. Hindsight is always 20/20, I sure wish now that I had wrote down the information about the KRAFT family. Better yet, it would have been nice if the owner of the land had enough respect and let the KRAFT family Rest In Peace. 1. Re: [ILFULTON] Family Cemeteries
    2. Tina and list- Yes, we have had such an incident in our family. The 'Trail or Heartley Cemetery' in Ellisville, sections 7 and 18. A family member had found a list of the burials, including the names Heartley, Jones, Wilson, and 2 of my Cain family. The note said "a bulldozer went through the center of the cemetery to put the fence in. Also, the hogs have torn it all up." Evidently, this should have been an historical site, as those who died 'on the trail' were buried there. Our Cain burials are dated 1845 and 1855. "Some old-timers say there were about 25 stones at one time." I don't know if the Historical Society has this one listed, either. So much for perpetual care. Cherilyn Trusty

    1. John M. Benham
    2. Aaron Benham and Mary Ann Archer are the correct parents of John M. Benham. My brother made an incorrect assumption when he said that Richard and Catherine Everhart Benham were the parents. This line has been proved for membership in First Families of Montgomery County, Ohio, First Families of Hamilton County, Ohio, and First Families of Ohio. Check the 1850 and 1860 censuses and the book "Benhams in America" by Georgiana Randall. Benham Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" John married Eliza Miller. I have his parents as Aaron and Mary Archer Benham. An old paper in moms things written by CA Rogers in 1975, has his parents as the brother of Aaron, Richard and Catherine Everhart Benham. Several websites also differ and list both set of parents. Who is right? Who are the correct parents? Does anyone know for sure? Carla Finley, Venice, FL My photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/carlafinley
