Mildred “Midge” Herley, 81, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:13 A.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Midge was born on Sunday, August 30, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of the late Neal and Mary Elizabeth (Puckett) Morgan. She married Albert Darold Stewart on May 28, 1949 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1967. She married David Herley on July 24, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1985. Surviving family members include son: Rodney Stewart and wife JoAnn of Benton, Illinois; daughter: Barbara Clarke and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: Stephanie Orr and Jorge Sanchez of Chicago, Illinois, Justin Orr, M.D. and wife Jennifer Orr, M.D. of El Paso, Texas, Brett Stewart and special friend Susan of Benton, Illinois and Amy Wilson and husband Brandt of Christopher, Illinois; 10 great grandchildren: Malcolm, Gabriela and Mia Sanchez, Daulton, Blake and Peyton Stewart, Ethan and Emily Orr, Lynnsay and Bryce Wilson; brothers & sisters: Marian Erb and husband Les of Centralia, Illinois, Norma McCafee and husband Robert of Springfield, Illinois, Jean Domingez of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Carolyn Ray and husband Jerry of Centralia, Illinois, Connie Koch of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Steven Morgan of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Joyce Morgan of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husbands and one son: Michael Stewart preceded her in death. Midge was a sales clerk at Shoe Stop in Mt. Vernon, was a lifetime member of Mt. Vernon Elks (B.P.O.E.) Lodge 819, was a member of South Hickory Hill Christian Church and a former member of the Alpha Iota Sorority. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
