Central Standard Time, elvis500@frontier.com writes: Laura Ann Hicks, 90, of Woodlawn, Illinois passed away at 9:55 A.M. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Hicks was born on Sunday, September 17, 1922 in Christopher, Illinois the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Duckworth) Lutes. She married Clyde E. “Bus” Hicks on August 30, 1941 in Charleston, Missouri and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2005. Surviving family members include her 2 sons: Robert “Bob” Hicks and wife Judith of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Charles Allen Hicks and wife Dee Lynn of Texico, Illinois; daughter: Peg O’Daniell and husband Ron of Woodlawn, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: Dixie Bradley and husband Jeff of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Brent O’Daniell and wife Stacie of Virginia, Illinois, Brett O’ Daniell and wife Megan of St. Charles, Missouri and Michael Hicks of Texico, Illinois; 5 great grandchildren: Tyler Bradley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Lauren O ’Daniell of Virginia, Illinois, Brendan O’Daniell of St. Charles, Missouri, Owen O’Daniell of St. Charles, Missouri and Carissa Stagner and husband Kurt of Sesser, Illinois; 2 great great grandchildren: Kensington and Morgan Stagner of Sesser, Illinois; 2 brothers: Charles “Peanuts” Lutes and wife Loretta of Christopher, Illinois and Carl Lutes of Somers, New York; sister: Emma Smith of Carbondale, Illinois; sister-in-law: Lillian Lutes of DuQuoin, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, one brother: James Lutes and one brother-in-law: Reverend Walter Smith preceded her in death. Laura was a presser at Nuway Drycleaners and at 1 Hour Martinizing and later was a librarian's assistant at Horace Mann Elementary School before retiring and she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Phil Poe will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
