Katherine J. Smith, 77, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 3:08 A.M. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Smith was born on Friday, January 24, 1936 in Jefferson County, Illinois the daughter of the late Roy and Ethel Tennessee (Ferguson) Wilson. She married Leroy Reynolds and he preceded her in death. She married Roy Dale Smith on June 12, 1967 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2010. Surviving family members include her daughter: Donna Hays and husband Junior of Benton, Illinois; 2 sons: Joe Reynolds and wife Teresa of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Jerry Reynolds of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 granddaughters: Leslie Hammock and husband Harley, Holly Reynolds and Mandy Reynolds; 3 great grandchildren: Alecia Bumgarner of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Brandon Hammock of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; brother: Roy Lee Wilson and wife Louise of Kansas City, Kansas; 4 sisters: Dorothy Donoho and husband Junior of Bonnie, Illinois, Laura Louise Whisenhunt of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Annette Flanagan of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Nelda Waller of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, both husbands, one son: Leslie Leroy Reynolds, one brother: Winston Wilson and one sister: Ardyce Henkensiefken preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Atkinson Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. Reverend Merle Fullerton will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Atkinson Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
