Mary was born May 27, 1917, in Whittington, to Alvin and Martha Miola (King) Holman. Mary was united in marriage with Byford E. Bevis on April 4, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1991. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Carlie Bevis of De Soto and Bobby Gene and Kathy Bevis of Herrin; eight grandchildren, Eddie Bevis and Brenta, Rodney Bevis and Cindy, Michael Bevis and Amy, Mark Bevis, Todd Bevis, Nicholas Bevis and Nikki, Brian G. Bevis and Brian L. Bevis; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Charles W. Bevis and Jerry Bevis; four brothers, Herbert Holman, Edgar Holman, Harold Holman and Stanley Holman; and three sisters, Daisy Holland, Nova Rice and Amy Johnston. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be in Williams Chapel Cemetery in Ewing.
