CHRISTOPHER - Raymond E. Short, 57, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home. He worked on the farm for Dr. Sean Bozorgzadeh. He was born Aug. 3, 1955, in Herrin, to Hosea and Flora (Bearden) Short. Raymond married Betty J. (Newberry) Short on Nov. 21, 1974. Survivors include children, Marsha Roberts of Sesser, Donny Short of Benton, Darren Short of Christopher and Jonathan Short of Christopher; grandchildren, John Matthew Baxter, Tyler Baxter, Lacey Mae Roberts, Braydon James Short and Kyan Michael Short; and brothers and sisters, Florine Bush of Chicago, Mary Brown of Christopher, David Short of Du Quoin and Buddy Short of Royalton. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be from 5 o 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Ray enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and will be missed by all.
