Dale, this is what I could find for William per Frankfort Twp, Franklin Co IL cem. book Vol. One (1980) pg 7, Tower Heights Cem: MILLER, William B. 1863 - 1927 (no other MILLER's buried near him) per Daily American Newspaper, West Frankfort, Franklin Co IL 1927 (PULLIAM c 2000) pg 64, 24 Oct 1927 William Banks MILLER, 64, died at his home this morning. His death was sudden and due to apoplexy. He was a victim of two automobile accidents and it is thought this was primarily the cause of death. Last spring he suffered a severe attack and in the summer another and this was the third stroke of the same nature that killed him. He was one of West Frankfort's most charitable and kind hearted men. He never betrayed any confidence or trust. His hand was never raised against his fellow man. He was born on 1 May 1863 in Franklin County near Osage post office (obit lists place of birth as Jackson County, Illinois), the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. MILLER (obit lists parents as William Banks and Jane BROWNING MILLER.) His father was in the Civil War and died in Andersonville Prison. His grandparents were the late Elisha BROWNING and wife, who were among the earliest settlers in Franklin County. When but a lad of 6 years, he took his first job, that of dropping corn. He continued in farm work until he reached the age of 13. With his mother he moved to Murphysboro at the age of 11. He had farmed, worked about railroads and mines. He married three times, losing two wives by death. His first wife was Amanda RIGGS, after her death he married Lillian GIBSON. His present wife was Johanna CLIPPER, whom he married in 1897. One son, W.K. (Kenneth) MILLER, by his second wife, also survives. The time of the funeral service has not yet been determined, awaiting the arrival of his mother, Mrs. Jane AHLS (listed as AHL, in obit), 93, of DuQuoin. Burial at Tower Heights Cemetery (Combined with obit carried 27 Oct. 1927) Jo Ann McGhee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dale Ray Houseworth" <tristanmorgan@nwcable.net> To: "ilfrankl" <ilfrankl@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 29, 2013 9:43 PM Subject: [ILFRANKL] William Banks Miller I am looking for information on WILLIAM BANKS MILLER born 1 May 1863 son of JOHN & JANE BROWNING MILLER. > WILLIAM BANKS MILLER died 26 Oct. 1927 Buried Tower Heights Cemetery. > Thanks, Dale
