Phyllis Herron, 77, of West Frankfort, Illinois passed away at 1:15 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at her residence. She was born July 31, 1935 in Marion, Illinois to John and Amy (Watson) Jackson. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janice McElyea; grandson, Jeff McElyea; sisters: Mary Ruth Riddle, Nancy Schaeffer, and Carrie Moake. Survivors include her sons: John Alverson of West Frankfort and James Alverson of Benton; grandchildren: Jennifer (Rick) Henson of West Frankfort, John (Sherry) McElyea of Benton; Jacob (Erin) McElyea of West Frankfort; great-grandchildren: Melanie Henson, Jennifer and John Cole; loving companion: George Herron of West Frankfort; sister, Sandra Denfip of Mayfield, KY; George Herron's children: Brandy Herron, Tonya Herron, and Kelly Dawson; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois with Pastor David Batts officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2013 at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Boner Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois.
